On May 28, 2021, the discovery of what is believed to be the remains of 215 children at the site of a former residential school in Kamloops, B.C., stunned many Canada Covenanters. In the following months additional sites of potentially unmarked graves of children were also discovered.

How do we respond to such news? As followers of Jesus how do we make sense of the dark history of Residential Schools in our country? Most importantly, as people who proclaim a gospel of reconciliation, how are we bringing reconciling truth and love to indigenous friends and neighbors who carry in their bones the collective trauma of the history of residential schools?

Canadian Residential School History: Four Stories

This 2-hour webinar will explore the history and impact of the Residential School history through four interconnected stories. We hope to provide both historical background and Christ-honouring ways to become people who listen well, act justly and seek to have authentic friendships with indigenous people.

We will host the same webinar on two separate dates to accommodate each time zone.

Who is this webinar is for? Our hope is that this event will be attended by many people from each Covenant Church. You are welcome to share this with other members and leaders in your community.
