Ecuador: Learn About the Medical Clinic

On November 6, a group of Canadian Covenanters will be travelling to Ecuador, one of the Canada Covenants Regional Partners. As this group prepares for the trip, we want to express our care and commitment to the work God is doing in Ecuador, specifically by making a financial gift to The Santiago Partnership, and we want to invite you to partner with us.

Sonia’s story was filled with days that were dark and difficult due to both physical and psychological trauma.

Sonia was hit by a drunk driver and the accident left her injured and bedridden since she had limited access to medical care needed to heal properly. Because of her inability to move on her own, Sonia’s eldest son had to leave school to care for her and his younger siblings. On top of this, a close family member was suffering from alcohol abuse that added even more stress to family dynamics.

Sonia’s son was seen by Covenant Serve Global Personnel, Kim Delp, at a medical caravan provided by The Santiago Partnership’s Medical Clinic, and was able to share about his mother and their situation at home. With the support of the Santiago Partnership, Sonia was given access to physical rehabilitation and psychological care. And, through Santiago Partnership’s Intervention Program, arrangements were made toward helping the entire family and supporting them to health and safety.

In Ecuador, many families like Sonia’s lack access to adequate healthcare, education, and awareness resources. The Santiago Partnership helps fill these voids. With the help of the doctors in the caravan and at the Medical Clinic, families are treated as real people and not just a statistic.

Sonia received the medical care she needed to get back on her feet. Her children now have enough food to grow and to thrive and her eldest son was able to return to school as the burden of being a caretaker was lifted from his shoulders. In addition, the family member suffering from alcohol abuse was given support to deal with their addiction. Sonia’s family now has the opportunity to grow stronger, stay together, and change the trajectory of what looked like a bleak future.

This is the work of The Santiago Partnership’s Medical Clinic and we want all families and individuals in Ecuador to be able to access adequate health care, regardless of socioeconomic status, ability, or location.

Please pray for this ministry and consider giving a financial gift to help provide Ecuadorians like Sonia and her family with a dignified life.
